Rain and how to fix a circuit board

After 5" rain in 3 hours, the neighbor’s Camry got drenched, waking us to blaring horn as the security system board under the driver’s seat died.

I took the security system board out of it’s holder and told them to run it through their dishwasher and then dry it in the oven at 200 f. Guess what, good as new!

The lesson is, electronics are a lot tougher than you give them credit for. Get them clean and dry and they might just work again....

When in doubt, pack it in dry rice and leave it overnight.

I wish I had taken a picture of it, it was some combination of road salt green and slime. I figured it was the easiest way to clean it. Besides, they had bought a replacement on ebay so there was no loss to try to fix this one.
